I'm a Mechanical Engineer and I've been registered as a Professional Engineer since February of 1994.
I've lived in Oklahoma all but a few years of my life. As a child my father was in the U.S. Army. When my father retired from the Army we settled in Lawton, Oklahoma because that is where my mother is from. I graduated from Eisenhower High School in Lawton in 1982. I then continued my education at the University of Oklahoma and graduated with a BSME in 1987.
While at OU, I joined the Army Reserve in 1983 and went through the ROTC program. I received my commission and served in the Army Reserve until 1994.
My first job out of college was as a Distribution Engineer for ARKLA Gas Company. I worked for them from 1987 to 1997. The first 7 years was in Altus and the last 3 was in Lawton. ARKLA was an excellent company to work for, but my passion was construction and I wanted to get into consulting.
I started working for The Benham Group in 1997 and I worked for them until 2002. While at Benham, I was part of the building design team that designed the Chesapeake Energy Arena, Will Rogers Airport Expansion, and the Oklahoma City Federal Building.
I started my own consulting business in 2002. I was very lucky to meet Bill Halpain. He was an electrical engineer whose mechanical partner had just retired and he needed a mechanical engineer to work with. We've worked together for a long time and I'm very lucky to be able to work with such a professional businessman. I owe a lot of my success to him.
For the last several years, I have have developed good working relationships with about 4 other electrical engineers. Even though I personally only offer mechanical design services, I can offer a complete MEP design package.
My passion is designing things and making them work. While going through the design process it can be a bit tough sometimes when things don't fit. However, one thing you can always count on with me is that I will work through it and the design will be right when I put my seal on the drawings. I think my biggest compliment was when Roger Jeffcoats called me. He said in 30 years of HVAC contracting, he has never run into a set of plans where he didn't have to change a thing. He said he had to call me and let my know my plans were the only plans he has every seen where he didn't have to change anything. It may never happen again, but I can guarantee you I am very conscientious about every project.
I love looking at some of the beautiful and stunning buildings designed by architects I have worked for in the past. My greatest reward is when I get wowed by the building and know that my contribution is what helped to make the building work.
